چکیده
The physical design of a robot suggests expectations that robot’s functionality for human users and collaborators. When those align with the true capabilities, are more likely to adopt technologies their intended use. However, relationship between socially interactive is not well understood. This paper applies concept metaphors contributes Metaphors Understanding Functional Social Anticipated Affordances (MUFaSAA) dataset 165 extant robots place on them. We used Mechanical Turk crowd-source user expectation over three studies. first study (N=382) associated crowd-sourced different embodiments. second (N=803) assessed initial social final (N=805) addressed degree abstraction functional projected performed analyses gain insights into how can be understand these data visualized useful designers designers. Together, results serve guide toward aligning facilitating positive human-robot interaction.

Behavior Adaptation for a Socially Interactive Robot
This report addresses the problem of making a humanoid robot learn a human partner’s preferences regarding personal space and adapt to these in real-time. An adaptive system using policy gradient reinforcement learning (PGRL) is proposed, implemented and evaluated in an experiment using human subjects. The experiment shows that this is a viable solution to the problem, but that there are some i...
متن کاملEmotional Exchange of a Socially Interactive Robot
This paper presents an emotional exchange framework for a socially interactive robot. The purpose of emotional exchange in social interaction between a robot and people is to make people feel that the robot is a believable living assistant, not a mere machine for information translation. Our emotional exchange framework is composed of the emotion recognition, generation, and expression systems....
متن کاملHuman-robot Interaction Design: Understanding User Needs and Requirements
Goal-Directed Task Analysis is being applied to assessing the needs and requirements for developing novel techniques and tools to permit a small number of humans to supervise large robotic teams. The paper presents a preliminary overall goal hierarchy as well as a preliminary communication goal hierarchy based upon the initial analysis. This research involves working directly with the Nashville...
متن کاملUnderstanding the Characteristics of Metaphors in Tangible User Interfaces
The idea of metaphors has been a central and popular element in the design practice of graphical user interfaces. While the principle is commonly applied and discussed in the field of Graphical User Interfaces, its usage in the field of Tangible User Interfaces (TUIs) is not yet fully understood. This paper analyses the principle of metaphors in TUIs, based on the main definitions of interface ...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
